THE VIVIT EXPERIENCE

NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY - SATURDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2019

WIN A "I <3 ANATOMY" HOODIE. Purchase a ticket to any VIVIT Experience to enter. One Hoodie giveaway per show.

What is it?

The VIVIT Experience is a nationally award winning academic experience offering you the chance to participate in a recreated post mortem experience conducted on VIVIT -the worlds only semi-synthetic human cadaver. During this special 5 hour experience you will be taken on a scientifically accurate recreated human body dissection learning in-depth anatomy and physiology relevant to your academic studies. The course is designed to support students studying in the biosciences, health, sports or associated degree pathways that require an understanding of advanced anatomy and physiology or indeed the associated clinical pathologies. The procedure will be lead by Samuel Piri & his team who will first set out the basics of anatomical dissection before systematically working their way through the anatomical cavities comparing normal specimens with various states of pathology. You will also be taught a variety of important clinical skills including interpreting X-rays and linking symptoms to clinical diagnosis. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and at the same time handle the anatomical samples and even the chance to undertake some dissection for yourself.

Want to get involved in the dissection? Purchase a PPE from the Student Area or on the day of the event.

The BBC said "The VIVIT Experience is an incredible way to learn human anatomy and physiology, giving students access to such an interactive real experience is unlike anything we've ever come across before"

Science Director (BBC)

When is it?

The event will happen on Saturday 9th November 2019.

There will be an experience operating that day, one at 10.00am - 3.00pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

Who can attend?

The event is open to students studying across the UK as well as any students on Hospital placements.

The experience is a 5 hour intensive experience aimed at giving a practical insight into anatomy and physiology.

Students on courses: biomedical science, biology, human biology, pharmacology, forensics, sports science(s), nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, nutrition and any other course requiring an understanding of human anatomy and physiology are encouraged to attend.

What do I need to bring?

We are aware that not all individuals will want to handle the specimens. You can still fully immerse yourself in our experience and there is plenty of time to observe and talk with Sam and his team. If you are wanting to handle the specimens and conduct some dissection yourself, you will need to wear appropriate PPE to prevent the spread of biological contaminants. These will be on sale at the event from the check in desk and cost £10.00. The PPE packs contain 5 pairs of premium nitrile medical exam gloves, a hat, a mask, 2 overall aprons, an exclusive VIVIT  anatomical notepad containing key terms and diagrams and a pencil."

We have limited complemetary tickets for academic staff/course leaders and lecturers across both universities. To obtain these tickets please email Alex: Alex.p@itaegroup.co.uk. For lectures free tickets please get in touch.
